Tài tử JK Simmons đã giành tượng vàng đầu tiên trong đêm trao giải ở hạng mục Nam diễn viên phụ xuất sắc.

08h43: Giải Diễn viên phụ xuất sắc được công bố đầu tiên. Tượng vàng đã thuộc về tài tử gạo cội JK Simmons với vai diễn thày giáo dạy nhạc trong phim The Whiplash.

Oscar đã bước sang năm thứ 87, là giải thưởng thường niên do hơn 6.000 thành viên Viện Hàn lâm Khoa học và nghệ thuật Điện ảnh Mỹ bình chọn. Năm nay, danh hài Neil Patrick Harris là người chủ trì của đêm trao giải. Trong khi đó, ca sĩ Adam Levine của nhóm Maroon 5 sẽ biểu diễn mở màn với ca khúc Lost Stars trong bộ phim Begin Again. Đây là một trong năm đề cử ở hạng mục Bài hát trong phim hay nhất.

Các đề cử đã được công bố vào ngày 15/1. Hai bộ phim nhận được nhiều đề cử nhất là Birdman và The Grand Budapest Hotel với 9 hạng mục. Tiếp theo là hai bộ phim Boyhood, American Sniper giành 6 đề cử. Trong đó, Boyhood đã là phim ẵm nhiều giải thưởng điện ảnh Mỹ nhất trong thời gian qua, đáng kể nhất là giải Quả cầu vàng 2015 cho Phim hay nhất.

Tại hạng mục Phim hay nhất, 8 tác phẩm tranh giải năm nay hầu hết là các phim độc lập kinh phí khiêm tốn, gồm Birdman, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Imitation Game, Boyhood, American Sniper, Selma, The Theory of Everything và Whiplash. 8 tác phẩm thuộc nhiều đề tài khác nhau, từ chiến tranh đến đời sống, nghệ thuật, lịch sử, tiểu sử...

Hạng mục Nữ diễn viên chính xuất sắc là cuộc đua của các diễn viên gạo cội như Julianne Moore (Still Alice), Reese Witherspoon (Wild), Marion Cotillard (Two Days, One Night) và hai người đẹp có diễn xuất đột phá trong năm qua Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl), Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything).

Ở hạng mục Nam diễn viên chính xuất sắc, hai tài tử được dự đoán có khả năng giành chiến thắng cao nhất là Michael Keaton (Birdman) và Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything), bên cạnh 3 ngôi sao khác là Benedict Cumberbatch, Steve Carell và Bradley Cooper.
